Passing of the Baton: Super Bowl Sunday

February 3, 2013 It’s Super Bowl Sunday XLVII. Being married to a football fanatic, I have had my share of Super Bowl Sundays…in fact, 29 to be exact! And I hosted many, many Super Bowl parties in those 29 years. I remember the first Super Bowl party in our brand new home 17 years ago. We moved in January 7th, so the home was brand spanking new. Aaron, 10 years old then, sat down in front of the TV with a house full of guests and spilled his 44 oz Big Red all over the floor. That’s when I realized I truly loved hardwood flooring. A quick wipe up and the party continued.

But today is a first. Today my husband and I will attend our son’s first Super Bowl party in his new home. Aaron has really taken pains to decorate his home to be a real man-cave. Black leather sectional with huge coffee table that holds a multitude of feet…black/brown dining room table, bar height, with bar chairs. Huge black/brown mirror overlooking dining room table. Ah…to the man-cave.

I look forward to watching him entertain with finesse. I know he has 2 sets of coasters on his coffee table as a gentle reminder that it’s still brand new and he wants to keep it that way. I wonder what he will do when his friends sit on the floor with their drinks just an elbow’s nudge away… or with the plate of gooey barbecue wings or pizza balanced on their knees.

Actually, I think he will be a great host. No more hosting Super Bowl parties for me…I think I like being a guest. The legacy building continues as our son carries the baton.

Reminds me of the first time I lived on my own…a big luxury apartment with a small loveseat and a small bed…but I see Aaron’s new HOUSE, and I say it must be nice…because though I’m married now I’m still in an apartment…but…when I grow up…I’m hooked…I’ll still live in an apartment.

His man cave is the absolute bomb! He must be proud, and you too!

    So glad you all enjoyed!

We had a great time and he was an excellent host. Still putting pictures up just before game time.

We had fun…couldn’t hear any of the commercials or the game, but all-in-all, everyone had a great time. Next year…surround sound!
