Memoir Writing Prompt: Who are You Missing Today?
My precious Uncle Charlie passed away last night. I remember him when he first dated my Aunt Marolyn. As a kid, I thought he was funny, happy and . . . he liked me. Because of my intense love for my Aunt Marolyn, I couldn’t imagine anyone more perfect for her. They made each other laugh, and the two were happily married for 57 years. They had four children who all have characteristics of both my aunt and uncle.
Therefore, Uncle Charlie lives on for generations to come—through his children, grandchildren and beyond. As I grieve with my cousins today, I realize my life is richer for having known this kind and affectionate man.
Memoir Writing Prompt: Imagine six of your favorite people (either living or deceased) seated around a dining room table. Choose one of them and describe their personality, why you love/loved him/her so much, and why your life is richer for having known this person.
Today’s Writing Prompt: You might think this is a bit morbid, but death is inevitable. Write down what you want your family and friends to remember about you when you’re gone?
Have fun with your writing and remember: You are writing for your generations to come.
