Memoir Writing Prompt: National Taco Day—Yesterday!
Yesterday, October 4 was Taco Day. It’s hard to believe that I actually hated Mexican food when I first moved to San Antonio in 1973. The smell of it turned my stomach. But that all changed in two short years. Now, I could eat Mexican food for all three meals (and in-between snacks). Bean and cheese tacos rate number one on the top of my taco listing. The more ooey, gooey the better. Because I can’t eat lettuce, my meat tacos are ordered without, which leaves more room for beef or chicken, tomatoes, onions, lots of cheese and pico de gallo. Hard shell or soft shell—it doesn’t matter. Tacos don’t really make the world go round, but they sure help.
Even though it’s one day late, go treat yourself to the taco of your choice!
