December 8: He Will Come Again!
For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 (NIV)
During the Christmas season, we often experience sadness as we think of family and friends who have gone home to be with the Lord. But, we can rejoice knowing that all who believe in Christ will meet Jesus in the air and be reunited.
When I am sad and feeling the heartache of yet another Christmas without Mom, Dad, and other loving family and friends, I take comfort in the promise above, and the verse below.
“There is going to be a meeting in the air,
in the sweet, sweet bye and bye.
I am going to meet you, meet you over there
in that home beyond the sky.
Such singing you will hear never heard by mortal ear ’twill be glorious,
I do declare.
And God’s own Son will be the leading One at that meeting in the air.”

Dear Lord, may those who are grieving the loss of loved ones be comforted by the promise of Your return and the joy of being together again – forever!
