December 7: He Came

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
James 5:8 (ESV)

When I think upon that scene
Upon a starry night
It makes me ponder Jesus Christ
And how He made things right!

He came to us a newborn babe
So innocent to save us.
My heart rejoices at the scene
The miracle love gave us.

He came to save us from ourselves
From the pull of sin
To heal us of our deepest wounds
With His dear nail-scarred hands!

I can never think of Christmas without including “the rest of the story,” as Paul Harvey would have said. Let us come humbly this season to the Savior who first came to us as a babe.

Lord, thank You for this gift of love. Help us come to You each day of this season pondering the Miracle of You drawing near to us.
