The Woes of the Everyday Housewife

Okay, so this may not be the most flattering picture of my sister. Virginia is very attractive and has always been the picture of an exquisite lady of culture. However, this picture was taken as she so skillfully demonstrated the depth of her new washing machine.

Let me go back virginiaand say that for almost 50 years, Virginia met her family’s every need. And when it came to laundry, Virginia has always outdone herself. She taught her three children that three is the ideal number of towels to use for every shower or bath—one for the body, one for the hair, and one for the floor. Furthermore, once used, a towel should never be used again before it is washed. So with five in the family that was 15 towels a day.

Fast forward to today. Now she has her son, Darryl, and his two teenagers, along with our mom. With a family of six, Virginia insisted on a huge washing machine. And huge is exactly what she got.

However, in her excitement of finally getting the premiere washer of all washers, she never considered how far down the stretch would be to reach the bottom of the tub. With Virginia measuring 4′ 11” and the tub measuring at 2 ½’, the tub is slightly more than half her height.

In the long run, Virginia has decided that she will be very happy to use a stool on wash day.

Happy washing, Virginia!

I laughed so hard!! Good story! It’s hard to tell that is Mom; we never see her flipped upside down! Hope you rescued her from the washer; otherwise, she may be all washed up by now 🙂

Yes, she did find her way out of there, but not without a stool. 🙂
